Momo Gordon is a self-taught artist whose work explores the human emotional landscape. Based in Portland, their art utilizes themes of sentient spaces, hostile architecture, and anthropomorphized objects. Gordon’s intricately detailed graphite drawings on handmade paper hover in the realms of the uncanny and the surreal. Each composition is imbued with the artist’s internal sensations and observations, inviting viewers to look beyond the surface. Recent solo shows include Swallowed Whole at Last Straw in San Francisco, CA; Labyrinth This Way at lowell in Portland, OR; and Table 42 at Dalé Zine in Miami, FL. Selected group exhibitions include those at Nationale Gallery, Portland, OR; Mundus Press, Easthampton, MA; FISK Gallery, Portland, OR; Raum Für Illustration, Hamburg, Germany; and, OSMOS Address, New York, NY. They have been published in numerous volumes, including Floating World Comics (Portland, OR), Kuš! Comics, š! (Riga, Latvia), Art Maze Magazine (London, UK), Friends 04: Jolly (Can Can Press, CDMX), and Verses Magazine (Menlo Park, CA). Their portfolio includes collaborations with Fisk Projects, Saint Heron, WAS, Fresh Cut Flowers and Nieves Books.
