J McDonald (b. 1986) is an artist and designer based in Brooklyn, NY. He received a BA from Middlebury College in Architecture, with minors in Environmental Science and Philosophy / Religion. Through extensive travel and research, he has continued to explore the areas of overlap in these fields, probing spaces where the built environment, the natural environment, and the psychological environment collide. His works have been exhibited widely locally in NYC as well as globally, with galleries including Twenty First Gallery Objective Gallery, Bonham Gallery, Coup D’Etat, Good Naked Gallery, and more. He has created large-scale site-specific works at Taliesin West School of Architecture and Franconia Sculpture Park, as well as through local partnerships in Ghana and Mali. He has participated in residencies including Taliesin West, The McColl Center for Visual Arts, The Millay Colony, and the Blue Mountain Center. His works have been shown at art fairs including Design Miami, Art021, NOMAD, Brooklyn Designs, and Wanted Design.
